The Tesla Fremont Factory is of the initial production plants of the company. In 2010, Tesla closed a deal to purchase Toyota’s factory for around US $42 million. This gigantic factory is situated outside San Francisco in California’s Bay area.

Initially, the company was producing the Roadster models in this facility. But later discontinued the production of Roadsters and started working on Tesla S Model.

In June 2012, the company launched its Model S luxury Sedan. This automobile provided the corporation with the initial boost to become one of today’s most recognizable brands.

Today, this plant has a spacious capacity of 5.3 million square feet on 370 acres of land and is home to thousands of Tesla models. Over 10,000 individuals work day and night here to produce top-notch cars.

The plant manufactures Model S, Model X, Model Y, and Model 3, Roadster (Second Generation) using the expertise of excellent professionals.

Tesla acquired a distribution center in Lathrop previously owned by JC PENNEY, the American departmental store chain. Tesla established this factory to produce energy-storing products called Megapacks.

The one in Michigan was acquired from Riviera Tool and Die Co in 2015 and is used for making tool and die casting equipment.

Tesla currently owns 3 manufacturing facilities in Germany. They are located in Neutraubling, Neuwied, and Prum. These plants, again, are not the spot for Tesla’s car manufacturing.

Instead, they have an indirect role in the production as they are used for producing manufacturing equipment for Tesla.

Location: Storey County, Nevada, USA 

Tesla’s first Gigafactory in Nevada produces electric motors, Powerwall, Powerpacks, and lithium-ion batteries. Currently, there are no cars assembled here. 

Tesla Semi is also likely to be manufactured here once its commercial production starts rolling.

Location: Buffalo, New York 

In 2017, Tesla opened its second Gigafactory in Buffalo, New York. This plant is a 1.2 million square feet facility focused on solar energy.

This plant manufactures Tesla solar roofs, Tesla superchargers, Powerpack Battery Systems, and Powerwall Home Battery.

Tesla took around three years to select their Gigafactory location in Europe. In 2019, the company decided to launch its 4th Gigafactory in Germany. The firm started the construction project in 2020.

However, due to several reasons, the launch is delayed. The current reason reported is that local authorities are still inspecting the manufacturing facility for Safety Precautions. 

The plant will produce around 500,000 Model Y vehicles per annum. Currently, Model Y is imported from China and then sold in European Market.

This factory is one of the company’s most recent advancements in manufacturing. Earlier, people rumored that Tesla would open a factory in Texas.

But it was not until mid-2020 that the company broke the silence that they would start constructing a Gigafactory in Texas. The plant is expected to be completed by mid-2022.

Elon Musk tweeted about inaugurating the new campus befittingly on 7 April. This plant is also called the Tera Texas.

Surprisingly, it will be very environment and human friendly, as the gigantic park will cater to your amusement. A trail for biking, hiking, and skateboarding will be open to the public.

This manufacturing facility covers over 440,000 square feet of space. It will build Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. It will also help the company to have easy access to the Eastern United States.

The company aims to use this production plant as a Tesla Cyber truck and Tesla Semi production house.
